Like most teenage boys Arran Spencer shows an occasional stubborn streak and is sometimes reluctant to do things – but these traits have stood him in good stead for an important role in the Lichfield Mysteries’ play The Prophets.
Arran has landed the unique role of The Donkey – and his dad, Greg, plays a priest trying to lick him into shape.
Asked how they felt about their roles, Greg said: “Well, I think it’s safe to say that Arran has occasionally been a little reluctant and at times stubborn – so he’s ideal for the part.
“I told him there were three parts available: king, priest and donkey and to guess which one he was getting.”
Sixteen-year-old Arran is a pupil at King Edward VI School and Greg is a new member of Lichfield Players.
It is the first time they have performed in the Mysteries and are both looking forward to the event over the May Day bank holiday.
“We are enjoying the roles,” said Greg. “I am practicing being bad tempered and Arran stubborn!”
Lichfield Mysteries is a free event ,performed on May 6 an 7, on Market Square, Lichfield and in the Cathedral.
