Lichfield City FC recorded back to back league wins with a 2-0 triumph against Heather St Johns.

Dave Langston’s men did the damage in the first half of their Midland Football League Division One as Alex Keating and Jordan Evans were on target to secure all three points.

A bright start by the home side set the tone for the afternoon as Oli Hayward saw an early strike saved.

Lichfield’s fans didn’t have to wait long for their side to go one better as Keating got across his marker to head home his first goal for the club.

Keating then turned provider as his delivery found Evans who produced a volley to double City’s advantage.

Hayward almost made it three but managed to blaze his effort over the bar.

There was a downside for Lichfield though as goalscorer Evans was forced off with a hamstring injury, but partner in crime Keating was still looking a threat and forced a smart save from the visiting keeper.

Heather St Johns almost found a way back into the game but couldn’t quite capitalise on a goalmouth scramble in the City box, before a free-kick saw Lichfield saved by the woodwork.

The second half again saw the home side start brightly as Tom Green sliced an early chance wide of the target, before seeing another effort well saved.

But Heather St Johns showed they remained a threat as a golden opportunity was fired wide and a free-kick just cleared the City bar.

Green spurned a golden chance to put the result beyond any doubt for Lichfield, but it wouldn’t matter as the hosts held on for a well-earned three points.
