A gripping true story of a prisoner of war is coming to the Lichfield Garrick.
In Loyal Company will stop off in the city on 14th September as part of a nationwide tour.
The production tells of Arthur Robinson’s experiences during the Second World War and is written and performed by his great-nephew David William Bryan.
Working as a packer on the Liverpool docks in 1941, Arthur signed up as a private in the 18th Reconnaissance Division after the death of his best friend during the blitz.
The ship to his deployment in Singapore is sunk by Japanese bombers and he is declared missing – and it’s another four years before Arthur finally makes it home.
David said: “It’s a privilege to honour my great uncle while also raising awareness of the sacrifices made by so many brave men and women during World War Two.”
