Group aiming to start repertory theatre company in Lichfield

Published:

A successful theatre group is looking to set up a number of adult repertory theatre companies in Cannock and Lichfield.

The established Fired Up Theatre has already been successful in recruiting adults with some or little stage experience in Tamworth.

The first production for the newly-formed group is The Fell Walker, a fast-paced thriller set in the Lake District.

Fired Up Theatre director Simon Quinn said: “The Fell Walker is the first directive in the provisional exploration of setting up a number of adult repertory theatre companies throughout Staffordshire.

“Anyone aged from 18-65 who wishes to be added to the recruitment list can do so by emailing: fireduptheatre@aol.com or visit the website www.fireduptheatre.co.uk for up-to-date news.”

The Fell Walker, a piece of original community theatre, with heavy characterisation and not a little comedy, is based on the novel by Michael Wood.

It tells the story of Lake District journalist Ben Foxley and his pursuit of a psychopathic killer through his beloved lakes and Fells and also in the steamy mean streets of Manila in the Philippines.

The book has been adapted for the stage by Simon Quinn and co-director and former Staffordshire Poet Laureate Mal Dewhirst.

The play at Tamworth Enterprise College, Birds Bush Road, Belgrave, Tamworth, is on February 15 at 7.30pm.
Tickets are £7 and £5 concessions. Book by visiting www.fireduptheatre.co.uk, email fireduptheatre@aol.com or telephone 07985 030585.
