A LOCAL group is on the lookout for volunteers to help out as marshals at a motorsport event.
The Cannock and District Car Club is hosting the Wheelspin Autosolo on 12th July.
Marshals will help ensure the event – which will see up to 70 cars battling it out against chicanes, tight corners and hairpin bends at Curborough Sprint Course – runs smoothly.
A spokesperson said:
"You'll need to be self motivated, enthusiastic and enjoy working as part of a team dedicated to providing a safe environment for competitors and spectators.
"Volunteer marshals get close to the cars, enjoy a friendly social atmosphere and are given a free lunch and goody bag for their time.
"Don't worry if you have never tried this before, safety equipment is provided and you'll be working with a friendly team of experienced marshals.
"Many volunteers go on to national and international events, including Formula One with the relevant Motorsport UK training which is readily available to those who wish to progress."
The group will also be hosting a stand at the Cars in the Park event in Beacon Park on 4th and 5th July.
"If you have a car of interest, either classic or competition, the club could put you on the stand.
"Your car will be watched over by club members so you will be able to see the whole show knowing your car is safe.
People can register their interest in either being a marshal or displaying their vehicle via the club's Facebook page.
