Community events around Lichfield and Tamworth celebrating Her Majesty the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee have received funding from their local county councillor.
From tea parties and fetes to parades and ‘parties in the park’, local people will be out in force this weekend and over the bank holiday.
Matthew Ellis, Lichfield Rural East’s county councillor, provided the money from his Local Community Fund. He said,
“Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee is great for the country and a big celebration for Lichfield and Tamworth communities. But things are tough financially so I thought setting up a Jubilee Fund to offer each parish in the area I represent help with some funding was the right thing to do.”
Celebrations have been supported in Whittington, Clifton Campville, Harlaston, Elford, Hopwas, Canwell and Hints.
