A LIVE music event in Lichfield has been thrown into jeopardy following objections from residents living nearby.
The ticketed show, which is scheduled to run in Beacon Park from 11am to 11pm on 18th and 19th July, is also set to host a live screening of the FIFA World Cup.
But it will now be subject to a licensing hearing following the objections.
The event organisers, OnTick, are scheduled to have Soul Disco Society lead the festival on the first day with house music and soul artists.
More music and a screening of the FIFA World Cup final is planned on the second day.
However, two nearby residents have objected to the event. One said:
“I would like to oppose on the grounds of public nuisance.
“I live in Leomansley, Christchurch, just beyond Beacon Park. The late nights until 11pm and the number of hours plus sound checks will greatly affect our enjoyment of our home and ability to rest in the evening.
“We also have issues with parking – the facilities to park vehicles are overlooked. Beacon Park doesn’t have enough spaces for events we have endured over previous years.
“It is difficult to pass parked cars in Christchurch lane when all spaces are used. That means that we will have to have a schedule of local volunteers to make sure our car park for the church is only used by church users for services, weddings and Christenings again.
“This is too much to expect local residents to give up their own time.”
Conditions for the event have been agreed with Staffordshire Police, including challenge 25 being operational, an incident log and an event management plan being provided to the police prior to the event.
The licensing application stated:
“The general layout will include a main stage and audience area, licensed bar areas, food trader pitches, welfare and medical provision points, and back of house operational space.
“All areas will be clearly signposted and stewarded throughout the duration of both events.
“The premises licence is sought for the use of Beacon Park for an annual, pre-planned, ticketed outdoor event.
“The event will typically take place once per calendar year and will consist of a music-led event under the Soul Disco Society brand, featuring DJs and live performers. The format may evolve in future years to a single day or weekend event, with music remaining the primary activity.”
The licensing hearing is set to take place at 10 am on 18th May at Lichfield District Council’s headquarters on Frog Lane.
