A SERIES of information events are taking place after news that the reopening of a slip road onto the A38 in Lichfield would be delayed by six months.
HS2 bosses have confirmed that the northbound connection at Streethay – which should have been back in use again in October – will stay shut until April 2027.
The slip road has been closed since March as part of the ongoing high speed rail works in the area.
A spokesperson for HS2 said:
"We recognise the frustration for local communities and road users that the A38 northbound slip road at Streethay is closed while we realign the slip road for HS2 works.
"We explored every viable option to open a temporary realignment in October 2026.
"Unfortunately, there is no solution that is considered safe by an independent road safety audit and would meet standards required to protect road users and our workforce.
"Safety is our first priority and we will continue to deliver the permanent realignment and reopen the slip road in April 2027."

- 24th August – 4pm to 7.30pm at Fradley Village Hall
- 26th August – 6.30pm to 7.30pm online
- 1st September – 4.30pm to 7.30pm at Lichfield Guildhall
- 8th September – 10am to 3pm at Streethay Co-op car park
- 29th September – 10am to 3pm at Boley Park Co-op car park
- 23rd October – 10am to 3pm at Streethay Co-op car park
