Two swans have been reunited in Lichfield after one of them was injured.
In March Lichfield District Council called in the RSPCA after a swan got stuck in Donegal House’s car park. It had flown into a wall and landed on a car, damaging itself and smashing the windscreen.
Officers from the RSPCA treated it and a few weeks later contacted the council’s parks team to ask whether there were any single swans on Minster Pool.
Lyn Hammant, Historic Parks Manager for Lichfield District Council, said: “We were worried that one of Beacon Park’s two resident swans had been missing for a few weeks, and so were delighted when the RSPCA contacted us about this swan. We asked them to bring it to Beacon Park to see if it was our swan’s missing partner.
“It was touch and go for a while as to whether they would bond, but the swans have not left one another’s sides since they were reunited. As swans mate for life, we are especially pleased that they are back together again.”
