DETECTIVES are investigating after a spate of burglaries targeting high-value homes across Staffordshire over the past month.
Eight incidents have been reported since December, with suspects targeting detached homes that back onto open land.
Jewellery, expensive wines, designer clothings, shoes and handbags are among the items taken.
All of the incidents have taken place during the hours of darkness and homeowners have either been on holiday or out of the house at the time.
Detective Sergeant Alun Evans, from Staffordshire Police’s CID, said:
“We know the impact that burglary can have on victims and I can assure local communities we’re progressing a number of enquiries as part of our investigation into the spate of recent reports.
“It’s vital that homeowners don’t leave signs behind that they’re away for significant periods of time, because it can be attractive to burglars.
“Please bear in mind who can see your social media posts when you’re on holiday, particularly if your accounts aren’t private, and make sure to keep your windows and doors locked if you’re leaving the house for any length of time.
“Where possible, consider installing CCTV and security lighting around your home, and make sure that valuables are out of sight from windows and doors.”
