THE hunt for evidence is underway after a huge amount of waste was dumped on a Lichfield road.
Rubbish, believed to be several tonnes in weight, was found on Watery Lane this morning (20th January).
The huge pile of waste has blocked access to a number of businesses and homes on the route.
A spokesperson for Lichfield District Council said the hunt for those responsible was now underway – and urged anyone with information to get in touch.
“We’re aware of a large quantity of waste that has been fly-tipped on Watery Lane.
“Due to the scale of the fly-tipping, we immediately informed the Environment Agency. In the meantime, our environmental health officers are looking for evidence while we make arrangements to safely remove and dispose of the waste as soon as possible.
“If anyone has information about the people or vehicles involved, or the origin of the waste, please contact us on 01543 308000.”
Photo and video evidence can also be shared via an online portal.
