TV personality Baroness Bakewell is set to help launch the Lichfield Lectures as a year-round event.
Launched by Lord Puttnam in 2011, the talks have traditionally been held during the Lichfield Festival.
But the popularity of the inaugral talk – and opera director Sir Jonathan Miller’s last year – have led to the lecture programme being extended.
Joan Bakewell became a household name in the 1960s when she presented Late Night Line-Up before going on to host Heart of the Matter.
She will be visiting Lichfield Cathedral for the talk at 7pm on June 20, while the lecture within the Festival itself will be given by the actress Dame Harriet Walter on July 9 at 8.15pm, also in Lichfield Cathedral.
Tickets for both events are now available at www.lichfieldfestival.org or by calling 01543 412121.
