A HOUSEBUILDER’S fundraising effort for a local charity has topped £7,200.
Walton Homes had pledged to donate £200 for every open market plot sale completed at its developments.
It comes after the company selected Charlotte’s Kids’ Village as its chosen charity of the year in January 2025.
The latest cheque handed over was for £4,000 and will help create the UK’s first purpose-built holiday village for seriously ill children and their families.
Amy Summerton, director at Walton Homes, said:
“As a business with a long and proud association with Lichfield, partnering with a charity doing fantastic work for the local community is an absolute must for us.
“Charlotte’s Kids’ Village is doing something truly incredible for families living with life-limiting illnesses across our region, and we are so proud to have called them our official charity partner for the past year.
“Handing over the second portion of our donation was a happy moment for us and we’re looking forward to seeing the results of our contribution come to fruition.”
Walton Homes has also donated a house worth of furniture to the site to help deck-out one of the four-bedroom lodges at the Wychnor site.
Katrina Cooke, CEO of Charlotte’s Kids’ Village, added:
“Partnering with Walton Homes over the past year has made a real difference to the funding for this project – and the recent £4,000 donation is going to play a vital role in helping us reach the next phase of the development.
“We’d like to thank Walton Homes for their support over the past year. As a result of the partnership, we are well on the day to launching this truly special holiday village where families can make happy memories together and get some well-deserved respite.”
