Kienan Palmer hat-trick helps Lichfield City to 4-0 win over Ashby Ivanhoe

Lichfield City FC were in clinical form as they produced a 4-0 win against Ashby Ivanhoe.

Kienan Palmer gave a glimpse of his side’s attacking intent early on as he sent an effort wide from distance.

Joe Hartshorne then had a shot blocked on the line, but the reprieve was only temporary as Jordan Evans rifled beyond the visiting keeper to break the deadlock.

Max Black was denied by a smart save as City piled on the pressure, while Palmer was also kept out when a goal bound shot hit his own player on the line.

There was a moment of concern for Lichfield before the break though as keeper Adam Jenkins was penalised for handling outside the area, but thankfully for the hosts the referee opted to brandish a yellow card.

The second half saw City continue to exert their dominance with a Hartshorne shot deflected over as a succession of corners piled the pressure on Ashby.

But it was a smart break which eventually broke their resolve as Palmer found the bottom corner before adding his second of the afternoon with a calm finish.

And City didn’t need to wait long for goal number four of the afternoon to arrive as Palmer wrapped up his hat-trick by finishing off a fast-paced move.

It was almost five late on when Jamal Fuller saw his strike cannon off the upright.
