Labour’s candidates across Lichfield and Burntwood have fired the starting gun on their local election campaigns.
The party’s hopefuls gathered at The Hub at St Mary’s to agree details of their manifesto they say will deliver a “fairer, greener Lichfield district”.
Cllr Steve Norman, leader of the opposition group at Lichfield District Council, said that while early campaigning had shown positive responses, they would not be taking anything for granted ahead of 4th May.
“We are ambitious, but certainly not complacent and will work hard over the coming weeks to try to get our great team of candidates elected.
“While the Tories fall out amongst themselves, I am proud of the Labour team we are putting to the electorate and I hope we can add to the strong group we already have at Lichfield District Council.”

Cllr Dave Robertson, chair of the Labour group, said he was confident voters would see the value in his party’s plans.
“We have worked together as a team to bring forward an exciting and progressive plan for the district.
“We have learnt from the many Conservative failures over recent years and will now put forward an alternative Labour vision which will resonate, I’m sure, with voters.”
