A website which allows people to check the food hygiene rating for local businesses is being relaunched.
For six years the site at www.ratemyplace.org.uk has been giving customers the lowdown on the hygiene standards of food businesses across Staffordshire.
The revamped site is being relaunched to coincide with Food Safety Week and will see stars replaced with number ratings between zero and five.
Councillor Ian Pritchard, Lichfield District Council’s cabinet member for housing, health and environmental protection, said: “We know that visitors to local cafes, restaurants and bars like to see the reports of what our food inspectors have found on their visits.
“This is why we have relaunched the RateMyPlace website, so that it links in with the national scheme, while keeping the function to download our food safety experts’ reports.”
The website is also a useful resource for food businesses, as it gives customers information about where eateries are, what type of food they serve, as well as a map and directions to help hungry diners to find them.
