People living in Lichfield and Burntwood are being offered a guilt-free way to get rid of unwanted Christmas presents.
St Giles Hospice is appealing for presents that aren’t needed to be donated to its network of local charity shops.
The St Giles Hospice shops across the region will sell surplus gifts, with proceeds from their sale helping to pay for the care of local people living with cancer and other serious illnesses.
Lynwen Truesdale, head of retail for St Giles Hospice, said: “Each Christmas people receive presents they don’t really need, want or may already have.
“They may not have a receipt or cannot find the energy to exchange the gift in the shop, and the unwanted present invariably ends up as a new addition to the household clutter.
“Rather than leaving these unwanted gifts to gather dust, it makes more sense to let them go to a good home and raise money for a good cause at the same time.
“Unwanted presents are vital for our successful charity shops, and by donating gifts they don’t wish to keep, local people can make a positive start to the new year – as well as giving a helping hand to the hospice.”
