A new book by a Lichfield author will lift the lid on the history of Staffordshire.

Kate Gomez – who is also behind the Lichfield Lore local history blog – will celebrate the official launch The Little Book of Staffordshire tomorrow (May 19).

Covering everything from the county’s sporting achievements to its famous inhabitants, the book is designed to highlight all aspects of the area.

Kate said: “As I explored my adopted county of Staffordshire, I found so many great stories to share – I decided to collect them in a book so that others could enjoy them as much as I had.

“As I’m passionate about sharing stories, 10% of my income from sales of this book will be donated to the Lichfield Waterworks Trust to help them secure the future of Sandfields Pumping Station, built to save lives in the Black Country during the cholera epidemic of the 19th Century.”

The Little Book of Staffordshire by Kate Gomez is published by The History Press and is available on Amazon now.
