Lichfield rider Gary Mason admits he was pleased with his first outings on a new 2012 bike in the latest round of the British Superbikes Championship.
The city speedster had narrowly missed out on a place in the top six showdown, so the team opted to send him out on the new Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R bike to get some valuable testing in during the remaining rounds of the season.
Although he finished 17th in both races at Donington Park, Mason did improve by six seconds across the course of the weekend.
He said:
“It went as expected really. This weekend was all about developing the new bike, so yeah it all went pretty well. We’ve taken loads of new settings and can go to the next round with much more knowledge.
“Obviously as a rider I always want to go out an win, but right now my focus is on developing the bike for next season.”
MSS Colchester Kawasaki team owner Nick Morgan added:
“I’m pretty pleased with what we’ve achieved this weekend. We’ve developed the 2012 bike a lot and I’m happy with how Gary progressed.”
