Lichfield City FC beaten at home by Uttoxeter Town

Lichfield City FC’s stop-start season continued with a 3-2 loss against Uttoxeter Town.

Gary Birch’s men found themselves under pressure during the first half as the hosts controlled the opening exchanges.

The inevitable breakthrough came after 18 minutes when James Curley charged down a clearance and saw the ball bounce into the net.

City had more of the play in the second period but found themselves two behind when Jacob Lovatt netted for Uttoxeter.

But Lichfield dusted themselves down and grabbed a lifeline when Lee Osborne pulled a goal back from the penalty spot.

Any hopes of earning a point were extinguished when Curley netted his second of the game.

A stoppage time effort from Adam Wood proved to be too little too late as City slipped to their 12th defeat of the season in the Midland Football League Division One.
