Lichfield City FC moved to the top of the table with a commanding win over Coventry Copsewood.

Jamie Hawkins’ men found themselves two goals up at half-time in their Midland Football League Division One clash after strikes from Joe Hartshorne and Brad Linsey.

The away side didn’t take their foot off the gas in the second half either as they earned a penalty, but saw the Coventry keeper save.

But any hopes the hosts may have had of a comeback were dashed when a red card reduced them to ten men.

A ruthless City side then killed off the game with two goals from Alex Keating wrapped up the 4-0 win.

Lichfield return to action on September 22 when they entertain a Nuneaton Griff side with just one point to their name so far this season.
