Lichfield City FC followed up their FA Cup heroics with another fine performance to beat Romulus in the FA Vase.
Jay Hawkins’ men got off to the ideal start with Kyle Patterson scoring early in the first half.
Jordan Evans had a shot blocked on the line as City went in search of a second, while Adam Jenkins made a fine save at the other end to keep his side’s advantage intact.
Dan Thurstance made a goal-line clearance as an entertaining half continued.
Lichfield were given a boost when Luke Childs was hauled down by the keeper, with James Taylor converting the resulting spot kick.
History repeated itself not longer after when the keeper brought down Daniel Sheppard. Taylor stuck to his tried and tested spot to make it 3-0.
Romulus started the second half brightly, forcing Jenkins into a smart save not long after the break.
But it was Lichfield who found the target again with Jack Arrowsmith heading a corner home.
City went 5-0 up after a third penalty was awarded to Lichfield and Taylor netted a hat-trick of 12 yard finishes.
Despite the advantage, Romulus continued to ask questions and forced Jenkins into a number of saves, before eventually pulling goals back through Jordan Nadat and Jack Whelan, but they were no more than consolation strikes.
