Lichfield City FC were made to work hard for all the points against Cadbury Athletic.
A cagey opening saw little in the way of chances created.
But it was City who eventually made the breakthrough when Jordan Evans fired in off the crossbar.
It was almost 2-0 when Alex Keating found the net, only to be denied by an offside flag.
The second goal did eventually come in style when a Joe Hartshorne strike gave the Cadbury keeper no chance.
The copybook was blotted a little before half time as Daniel Dineen pulled a goal back for the visitors.
Max Black sent a shot over the bar at the start of the second half, before a stunning Daniel Thurstance half volley from 25 yards made it 3-1.
But Cadbury again fought back as sub Owain Taylor set up a nervous final ten minutes for City.
Lichfield held on though to claim all three points.
