Lichfield cyclist Dan Fleeman has suffered a fractured wrist in a riding accident in Germany.
The Cervelo Test team rider was taking part in the Bayern Rundfahrt event when the accident happened.
The collision ended with the Lichfield racer crashing into a police motorbike.
It was originally thought that a damaged finger was the extent of his injury, but further examination of his x-rays by German medics have concluded that the 26-year-old’s left wrist has been fractured.
The Lichfield rider is set to undergo minor surgery in Switzerland and the injury is likely to keep Fleeman out of the saddle for a relatively short period. He explained:
“I’ve seen the doctor and I’m getting my wrist screwed tomorrow. I should be able to ride a trainer by the weekend and then get back on the road a week later.”
