TWO local clubs will team up to mark the reopening of newly-refurbished squash courts.

The facility at Hopwas has been enhanced thanks to Community Infrastructure Levy funding.

Tamworth Squash and Racketball Club and Lichfield Squash Club will team up to mark the official reopening at 7pm on 7th October.

The event – which will also coincide with World Squash Day – will feature players from both groups competing.

Lichfield Squash Club chairman James Roberts said:

"World Squash Day gives us a great opportunity to bring the two clubs together and be part of something taking place across the squash world.

"It’s particularly fitting that our event will help celebrate the reopening of the refurbished courts at Hopwas. Investment in squash facilities is so important and it is fantastic to see Community Infrastructure Levy funding making a tangible difference here.

"Lichfield Squash Club is also looking forward to benefiting from similar investment in our courts next summer, so there is a really positive story developing for squash facilities across the district."
