A Lichfield cyclist is going to great lengths to raise money for one of his favourite charities.
Fifty-three-year-old Andy Hall is about to cycle the length of Britain, from Lands End to John O’Groats to raise money for the Midlands Air Ambulance.
Andy, of Lincoln Croft, Shenstone, plans to cycle between 80 and 100 miles a day, and will be camping or stopping in hostels as he makes his way up the country.
He is presently rallying support from regulars in Shenstone’s Fox & Hounds pub, where posters and sponsorship forms are on display.
Andy said:
“I’ve done various charity rides and the pub is always a great place to get sponsors. I know most of the people o in here and they are always a generous bunch.”
Andy will be accompanied part of the way by Whittington-based cycling pal Alex Harper, while his nephew Carl Walker, a school teacher based in Swansea, plans to complete the whole journey.
He plans to travel down to Land’s End on August 16 and start his ride the following day. He is hoping to complete the journey in about 11 days.
