A community participation and education programme run by the Lichfield Festival has been boosted by a £1,000 grant from a housebuilder.
Persimmon Homes has handed over the money to the annual arts event from its Community Champions scheme.
Taking place from 7th to 17th July, this year’s Lichfield Festival will feature performances from the likes of singer Tony Hadley and comedian Zoe Lyons.
Caroline King, from the festival, said:
“Thank you to Persimmon Homes – this news couldn’t have come at a better time as we build up to our 40th anniversary event in July.
“This year our flagship Aspire learning and participation event Lichfield Dances will increase accessibility to the arts by offering free, participatory dance workshops to the public and 27 workshops to local schools.
“We are passionate about nurturing young talent. Our young artists and young critics series give opportunities to young performers and writers.
“This grant will help us run Aspire and contribute towards expenditure including venue, artist and staff costs, so it’s a massive boost.”
