The Lichfield Players will be entering into the spirit of the Halloween season with their latest production.
The Crucible is a tale set in colonial America at the end of the 17th Century as hysteria, paranoia and vengeance run rife in the puritanical village of Salem with a group of hysterical young girls claim that others in the village are sending Satan’s spirits to attack them.
Those accused have a stark choice – they can save their lives by confessing to being a witch, or be excommunicated and hanged for denying it. A noose awaits those who will not lie to save themselves, while others realise it is an opportunity to rid themselves of those that stand in the way of what they desire. For one man, it is a time to decide who and what he truly is.
David Stonehouse, directing a large cast of many familiar and a few new faces to the Lichfield Players brings the play to life and in the intimate space of the Studio theatre at the Lichfield Garrick.
A spokesperson said: “Audiences will be immersed in the heart of this wonderful and poignant play.”
The play runs for two weeks, from October 25 to 29 and from November 1 to 5 at 7.30pm in the Studio at the Lichfield Garrick.
The Players will be promoting the play in Lichfield city centre on the morning of October 22, when they will be handing out vouchers offering a special £2 discount for audience members who book tickets for either of the Tuesday performances.
