Lichfield RUFC skipper reflects on Jekyll and Hyde performance

Captain Dave Bassett believes his Lichfield RUFC side showed their best and worst form of the season so far in their defeat against Aston Old Eds.

The Lichfield side went into the game on the back of a flying start to the season, but saw a strong half-time lead evaporate in the second period.

And Bassett admits that his side need to work on their concentration. He explained:

“Aston were more surprised than anyone by the turnaround and although they are a resilient side who never give up, they certainly profited from our inability to recapture our form and take control of a game that was there to be won.

“The season is still in our own hands but we must learn the lesson from the performance and maintain concentration and control for the full 80 minutes.

“We saw Lichfield’s best and worst halves of the season, but our confidence remains high that we can turn our fortunes around with an 80 minute performance at Bridgnorth this week.”
