A Lichfield RUFC team has taken to the national stage in a touch rugby competition at Twickenham.
The team were invited by O2 to play in the tournament at the home of English rugby.
They also got the chance to meet 2003 World Cup hero Jonny Wilkinson.
On the pitch, the team won three games and drew one, before losing in the semi-final to the eventual winners.
Lichfield touch rugby ambassador Curt Wilkins said: “To change in England’s dressing room, run out of the tunnel and play at Twickenham in front of England hero Jonny Wilkinson is a dream for most, but for the team and I it was an awesome experience and a huge privilege.
“The team did Lichfield really proud coming third overall in this 15-team event, losing their only game of the day to the eventual winners.
“A huge thank you to O2 and Lichfield RUFC sponsors Downes and Daughters Estate Agents for our shirts.
“It was a truly magical day for all involved”
Two Lichfield under 12 players – Oliver Wilkins and Ethan Gallagher – joined the team meeting Jonny Wilkinson for a question and answer session in the dressing room.
