STUDENTS from a Lichfield school will be putting their learning in top gear as part of a new education initiative.

Nether Stowe School has been accepted onto the British Council's Learning Sectors programme, which is delivered in collaboration with Formula One.

The programme aims to engage young people aged from seven to 16 from more than 1,000 schools worldwide by using the global appeal of the sport to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers and innovators.

As part of the programme, Nether Stowe School will be partnered with an international school from either Brazil, India, South Africa, Spain, China or Mexico.

Headteacher Kirsty Jones said:

"We are absolutely delighted that Nether Stowe School has been accepted onto the British Council's Learning Sectors programme.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to broaden their horizons, develop their STEM skills and connect with young people from around the world.

"We are incredibly excited to see where this journey takes us and look forward to the experiences, partnerships and opportunities it will bring for our school community."
