Children from a Lichfield primary school have visited Lichfield District Council as part of their studies into the local area.
Fifty year three youngsters from Willows Primary School spent an hour in the Council Chamber hearing from officers about Lichfield city centre’s upcoming Friary Outer and Friarsgate developments, as well as other projects.
The children were also asked what they would like to see in the city – a wish list that included pet shops, more clothes shops, toy shops, sweet shops and a cinema.
Teacher Hannah Clarke said: “The visit was a great experience for the children and they have learnt a lot about their city and exciting future developments like Friary Outer and Friarsgate, and how important the planning process is in helping a city to grow and be somewhere people love to live and visit.”
Councillor Mike Wilcox, Leader of Lichfield District Council, added: “We were delighted to host this session. The children asked lots of questions about the city centre and I am told there may be some potential planning officers amongst the group!”
