The Lichfield St Chad Rotary has purchased its 32nd ShelterBox.

The British-based ShelterBox charity provides support around the world by distributing boxes containing items such as a tent, stove and basic tools to help support families through times of hardship.

Rotarians Ken Sharman and Mike Cook handed over a £600 cheque at a recent meeting before being updated on the charity’s current efforts.

A spokesperson added: “We also learned that our last two boxes were used to help families in Nigeria in the recent flooding.

“ShelterBox are keen to secure local storage for 1,000 boxes to support rapid deployment via East Midlands Airport and a number of members are using their contact networks to see if we can locate such storage.”
