LICHFIELD fell just short as they went down by 12 runs at Bloxwich.
After sending the hosts in to bat first, the city men made the first breakthrough with the score on 45 when Liam Orgill bowled Sheraz Khan.
It sparked a flurry of wickets as Bloxwich slipped to 77-5.
But Aaron Allock struck 67 to get his side back on track before Nick Richards skittled him out to make it 184-7.
Any hope of ending the innings in quickfire fashion were halted though as the tail end proved stubborn. James Lewis struck an unbeaten 46 as Bloxwich wrapped up on 218-7
Orgill was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3-46.
Lichfield's response saw an early blow as Sarvesh Kotian was bowled by Samuel Smith after scoring six of 25 balls.
But the city men steadied themselves with Adam Braddock and Ihsaan Nadeem taking the score to 95 before the latter went for 27.
Braddock followed after being bowled by Matthew Boden following a knock of 70 from 88 balls with the score on 108.
Nick Richards produced a solid unbeaten 46 as Lichfield looked to steer themselves towards the target.
But when Elliot Dowen was caught by Boden off Allcock's bowling, the scoreboard read 191-8 – and the city men were unable to chase down the Bloxwich score as they were dismissed for 206.
