Just when illegal parkers thought it was safe to go back on the verges, the new APCOA parking wardens have taken to the streets.
As captured by The Lichfield Blog’s @nbrickett they were out in force today tackling the disabled bays of the city centre.
It’s admirable to see them getting down to business, but I just hope they’re not city centre focused as there was a real hope that these wardens would be cracking down on bad parking of the residential nature.
There are definitely parking issues in the city centre, but there’s plenty of work to be done beyond the view from TJ Hughes down to the Cathedral. Anyone who has tried to navigate through the double-parking hellhole that is
ToytownDarwin Park will tell you, the wardens would run out of paper before they got to the end of the first street.
Similarly, the Chelsea tractors parked outside any of the schools in Lichfield from 3pm onwards need sorting out before a child gets injured running between the bull-barred monsters.
Hopefully, the presence of APCOA wardens will make a difference. One thing is for certain – it won’t be any worse than the parking enforcement we’ve had until now.
