TWO local organisations are urging people to support a campaign calling for higher standards in repairs and maintenance by local housing providers.
Lichfield Foodbank and Citizens Advice South East Staffordshire want residents and organisations to back an open letter.
They are keen to see a new ‘gold standard’ adopted which would see prioritisation for emergencies, a dedicated local supervisor, improved appointment systems and accessible contact options.
A spokesperson said:
“The campaign highlights how poor housing conditions are driving hardship, with tenants facing higher energy bills, lost earnings waiting for repairs and extra costs tackling mould.
“Social housing should be safe and secure, not a cause of hunger and hardship.
“Adding your name to the open letter will strengthen the call for change when the letter is presented to housing providers.”
People can add their name online.
