Roundabouts in Lichfield and Burntwood are being given a makeover.
Work has already begun on Swan Island, with The Friary set to follow.
Lichfield District Council says it wants to create “attractive entrances” to both areas and cut down on maintenance.
Swan Island is being given a gravel and slate base with four planters and hanging baskets. The Friary will use the same materials but with a raised mixed heather bed.
Councillor Iain Eadie, Cabinet member for operational services, leisure and waste, said: “These changes will not only create attractive and distinctive gateways into Burntwood and Lichfield, but by using perennial and longer lasting plants, we will cut down the need to weed and replace the flowerbeds each season, making the service more efficient and sustainable.
“We hope visitors and locals will enjoy the new planting and refreshed roundabouts when they are complete.”
The council is also reducing or reshaping some flowerbeds in Beacon Park and Burntwood Park to use seasonal bedding or longer lasting herbaceous plants.
“We are so lucky to have such beautiful parks for everyone to enjoy, and the new planting schemes will not only be beautiful but will last all year rather than just some of the year,” Cllr Eadie said.
