The super Scholars Reserves were held to 2-2 draw against Boldmere St Michaels’ in their penultimate league game of the season.
Midfielder Greg Downes scored a first half brace, emulating the double he bagged in the reverse fixture in October.
On eight minutes Chad Degville scooted down the right flank, crossed into a crowed goalmouth and the Aussie emerged first from the mêlée to bang the ball home.
The Mikes then pulled one back through a Courtney Sowe own goal as he attempted to clear the ball to safety.
Sowe, whose work rate has been fantastic all season, made amends after 41 minutes. He jumped highest and headed Matthew Wood’s delivery back across goal for Downes to claim his second from the edge of the six yard box.
Boldmere St Michaels fought back in the second half and Leon Weller scored the equaliser with an outstanding solo effort.
It’s been an amazing season for the young Reserves who still haven’t lost in all competitions. They have already been crowned as league champions and are gunning for further glory in two cups.

On Monday evening (March 26) Cheadle Town are the opposition in the Staffs Challenge Cup Final as the Scholars aim to retain the trophy they won last season. Kick-off is 7.30pm. This is followed by a visit to Barwell on March 31 as they defend their one goal advantage in the second leg semi final of the Midland Combination Trophy.
On April 7 they entertain Coalville Town in their last league game of the season.
