A dream of saving Burntwood’s children’s centres has become a reality.
The new Spark community organisation officially launched this week after a group of parents came together to save the sites at Boney Hay and Springhill.

A team of mums led by Esther Allen collected a 2,000-strong petition as part of their campaign.
“I’m so proud of what we’ve been able to achieve in such a short space of time,” she said.
“We joked about the idea of being able to run our own centres and now it’s a reality.
“It’s been a lot of hard work and we’ve come across some obstacles, but I’ve been amazed by the enthusiasm of those involved.”
The group were supported by Burntwood councillor Sue Woodward, who described them as “fantastic”.
“This is a real success story for the Burntwood community,” said Cllr Woodward.
“This fantastic group of mums saw a problem and, rather than sitting and wringing their hands, set out to do something about it.”
