The music of Bach will be on offer in a performance at Lichfield Cathedral.
The Darwin Ensemble Chamber Orchestra will be directed by former Cathedral organist Philip Scriven when they appear on Saturday (May 11).
A spokesperson said: “With an array of soloists who all have local connections, it promises to be a wonderful evening’s exploration of J S. Bach – a true musical icon.
“Opening and closing the concert are two of Bach’s cantatas. Bass Fran Ambrose, a lay-vicar in Lichfield Cathedral choir, will perform the well-known and deeply expressive Ich habe genug, before Lichfield-based soprano Harriet Hunter takes the limelight in the Wedding Cantata Weichnet nur, betrübte Schatten.
“At the heart of the evening is Bach’s spirited Concerto for Violin and Oboe, with soloists Alex Laing and George Caird.”
