Chasetown FC blew away Coalville with a scintillating display of football, scoring four in a game where they could easily have scored more.
The home side should have been two goals up early on with misplaced passes inside the penalty box denying the Scholars an early advantage.
Eventually, the dominance paid off in the 24th minute when Nathan Waite gave Chasetown the lead capitalising on some defensive hesitancy after Nick Wellecomme’s initial effort was blocked.
Five minutes later and the lead was doubled when Wellecomme was persistent to put pressure on the Coalville back four and robbed a defender before nonchalantly flicking the ball into the bottom corner of the goal.
Coalville reduced the deficit when Jamie McAteer netted in-off the crossbar before half-time, but Chasetown restored their two-goal cushion at the start of the second period. Whether Jermaine Johnson saw the goalkeeper off his line only he knows, but the Scholars man looped an effort over Matt Coton from wide on the right which dipped just below the bar.
Waite added his second with a well-taken effort for the leading goalscorer’s ninth strike of the campaign.
