A project to revamp Lichfield’s parks has landed a national award.
The British Association of Landscape Industries have recognised the work to restore Beacon Park, Minster Pool and Walk and the Garden of Remembrance.
The works were carried out as part of the multi-million pound Lichfield Historic Parks Project and included cleaning and restoring memorials and monuments, hard and soft landscaping, upgrading Minster Pool and Beacon Park’s pool, creating a new café and kiosk and play areas.
Councillor Val Richards said: “It’s fantastic that Lichfield Historic Parks project has been so well received by the judges. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that it will win top place in the awards ceremony later this year.”
Five entries in the Restoration and Regeneration category have won an award, with an overall ‘principal winner’ to be announced at the awards ceremony in London on December 7.
