Plans to raise money for a commemorative window at the National Memorial Arboretum by selling a Nazi flag have been axed.
The item was one of a number of objects being auctioned off in a fundraising sale by the Special Forces Association.
However, the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas has now called on the group to drop the item from the sale.
A spokesperson told Staffordshire University’s StaffsLive website: “We have communicated with the Allied Special Forces Association, who were using the auction to fundraise for their own memorial on our grounds, and have suggested they remove the item from the auction.”
The flag was signed by members of the SAS after it was captured in 1942.
