STAFFORDSHIRE County Council has confirmed a new cabinet support post.

Cllr Su Beardmore will take on the role for special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) provision.

She will work alongside cabinet member education and SEND, Cllr Janet Higgins, to focus on strengthening early support for children and families.

Cllr Higgins said:

“With national reform ahead, it’s vital we are in the strongest position possible to deliver the best outcomes for children and young people.

“Su will play an important role in supporting our pre‑statutory work, helping us focus on early intervention and getting support in place sooner for families.

“I have no doubt she will be a real asset to both the council and to children and young people across Staffordshire.”

Cllr Martin Murray, leader of the council, added:

“I look forward to welcoming Su to cabinet to help strengthen our work in this hugely important area.”
