Former Walsall striker Gary Birch has been appointed alongside Gavin Hurren, who has played for the likes of Tamworth, Mansfield and Crawley.

They replace Simon Bell who had a short spell in charge after the departure of Paul Holt earlier in the season.

City will be hoping their new management team – who also had spells playing at Chasetown – will provide stability and reignite their Midland Football League Division One campaign.

But first they face the prospect of a Staffordshire Vase tie at home tomorrow (October 11).

The fixture will give Birch and Hurren the chance to assess their squad – and they could have defender Jon Huckfield available again after he returned to training this week following a rib injury.

Kick-off at Brownsfield Park is at 3pm.
