A new plaque will be unveiled on the SCAMP statue in Burntwood this weekend.
It will form the centrepiece of a day of events to celebrate the legacy and lives of local miners.
There will also be a performance by a brass band, stalls, art activities free face painting and free bouncy castles.
The event forms part of the new-look Burntwood Wakes and runs from 11.45am to 4pm on Saturday (June 13) at Sankey’s Corner and Burntwood Library.
