The orchestra’s string ensemble will perform at St Mary’s Centre on 23rd September.

The classical performance is the first of a seven concert series that will include Italian pianist Giuseppe Guarrera on 6th November and the Lichfield Cathedral Chamber Choir with a special Christmas concert on 17th December.

Nick Sedgwick, chairman of St Mary’s, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming players from the CBSO to St Mary’s and Lichfield at the start of their centenary celebrations and the start of our second season of classical concerts.

“We had a fantastic first season and I am sure that the concerts that have been arranged for this season will prove just as popular.”

The season will also include the world premiere on 18th March 2020 of a new piece by Lithuanian composer Kristupas Bubnelis that has been commissioned for St Mary’s.

It will also feature local Lichfield based violinist, Darin Qualls, with his Gypsy Jazz Quartet who will perform the music of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli on 29th April 2020.

Full details and tickets are available on the St Mary’s website.
