THE way consent is sought for children to receive vaccinations in local schools is changing.
The School Age Immunisation Service (SAIS) provided by Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust has adopted the new digital Manage Vaccinations in Schools (Mavis) system.
It will see parents and carers contacted directly rather than via education settings.
Claire Bailey, managing director of the trust’s children and families care group, said:
“Schools play a vital role in supporting public health programmes such as vaccination uptake, reducing health inequalities and ensuring pupils are protected, and I’d like to thank them for their continued and invaluable support.
“The introduction of Mavis will help us to move away from a fragmented, manual data entry system, to a digital system that will improve data quality.
“Where schools have securely provided the SAIS with parent or carer contact details, Mavis allows us to email or text a secure consent link directly to them.
“This will provide the SAIS with a timely and accurate record of consent, as well as being a faster and easier system for parents and carers to navigate.”
