Parents of primary school age children in Staffordshire are being urged to ensure they have their Covid vaccinations before the summer holidays.
With many jetting off abroad or preparing to head for a UK break when the schools break up, county health leaders say getting jabbed is the best way to allow people to travel safely.
Cllr Paul Northcott, Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet support member for public health, said:
“The vaccine offers the best protection against Covid-19 and I’d encourage all parents to support their child to get vaccinated.
“Although most children won’t be at risk of serious health complications from Covid, by getting vaccinated they’ll help to increase immunity in the population and protect those more vulnerable such as their grandparents.”

Children can get a first dose of the vaccine from the day they turn five, with most able to get a second dose 12 weeks after their first one.
