PASSENGERS travelling on the West Coast Main Line from Lichfield Trent Valley are being urged to check their journeys ahead of track upgrade work.

The scheduled improvements will see the route closed between Rugby and Tamworth tomorrow (26th January), while on 2nd February there will also be rail replacement buses as work takes place between Crewe and Stafford.

Further disruption will also come when work takes place on the West Coast Main Line on 8th and 9th February.

Gary Walsh, from Network Rail, said:

“Upgrading our track is vital for maintaining a safe and reliable railway. These improvements that will be made over the next few weekends will help us deliver better journeys for passengers in the long term.

“I’d like to apologise to passengers affected by the disruption and thank them for their patience.”

Passengers are also facing the prospect of disruption due to strike action by RMT union members at Avanti West Coast on Sundays from February to May.

People can check their journeys at www.nationarail.co.uk.
